Where Can I Use a Portable BBQ?

There are a variety of places you can take your portable BBQ. Ensure however that you read all local signs, and in some cases contact you may need to contact the local authority to check you are not breaking any rules:

  • Parks: Some parks have areas designated to barbecues. Others are more relaxed. If you are unsure contact the local council before settling down with a BBQ, as you don't want to get caught out with a fine.
  • Private Property: So long as permission is granted from the landowner, you should be able to host your own private BBQ on private land, such as around a holiday home or a friend's property/party.
  • Beach: Some beaches will allow you to use a portable barbecue. However, ensure you take extra care, especially on a busy beach. Always ensure that you take any rubbish, including the BBQ, away with you and dispose of this safely.

How Long Does it Take For a Portable BBQ Take to Heat Up?

A straightforward portable charcoal fuelled BBQ takes around 10-15 minutes to warm up to a temperature ready to have food cooked on.

As with cooking any food, ensuring it is cooked thoroughly before eating.

How Do You Put Out a Portable BBQ?

This depends on the type of portable BBQ you are using.

A disposable one can simply be put out by slowly pouring sea water or bottle water over it. Once cooled, they can then be binned/disposed of.

A reusable charcoal BBQ however, such as the Everdure Cube, we would recommend a different approach. These are best being extinguished by placing the lid over the grill. This will cut off the oxygen supply to the coals and cause the fire to go out. Be wary however that it will take some time for the coals to cool down and eventually go cold.
