How to Staycation in the Garden in 2021

Forget going abroad or spending money on a campsite or boutique hotel and create the perfect getaway in your very own back garden.

Follow our tips and tricks to ensure you have a garden staycation that will create ever lasting memories.

Create a campsite

One of the best things about camping is that it doesn’t matter the location, as long as you can make it fun! And the added bonus is that your shower and toilets are in the warmth of your home, so there’s no risk of a midnight dash to the woods!

There’s no better novelty when you’re little than pitching a tent in your very own back garden and sleeping under the stars. Leave your phones inside and spend the evening sat around a fire pit staying warm and toasting marshmallows, telling stories and playing games.

Continue the authentic camping experience the following morning by cooking your breakfast on a portable camping BBQ!

Outdoor Cinema

Grab some popcorn and your favourite snacks and create an open air cinema experience – it’s easier than you think!

If you don’t already have one, then it’s worth investing in a projector. These can be used indoors instead of having a TV and can easily be set up for use outside. Simply set it up so it’s pointing to the perfect spot outside and connect it to your media source and speaker. As for the screen, all you need is a plain white bed sheet that can be pinned to a fence or wall!

Wait for the sun to go down, snuggle under some blankets and cushions and enjoy your favourite movie under the stars!

Disconnect

One of the hardest things to do when having a staycation at home, is completely switching off and unwinding.

Whether you are a couple wanting a romantic and relaxing retreat or a family looking for a fun-packed weekend, disconnecting from work and social media can allow you to truly indulge in the garden staycation.

Turn your phones off and go into the garden with books, board games and enjoy the slower pace of life.

Trampoline Sleepover

This one is great for the kids and although there might not be much sleeping, it’s guaranteed to be loads of fun!

If you and the family want the camping experience, but don’t want to go to the expense of buying tents and airbeds, then a fun way of doing it is turning the trampoline into a bed! Simply cover the trampoline in pillows, duvets and blankets and all snuggle up together.

It may be one for when it’s not raining and a bit warmer, but it is sure to create memories that the little ones will treasure for years. Who needs to go on holiday when you can somersault and sleep all in one place?!
