What Are Cold Frames?
Generally, coldframes are a low enclosure designed to sit atop of your growing area. When seeds are in their initial phases of development, they are more vulnerable and exposed to the cold, and also birds and animals. A cold frame is essentially a lid which sits on top and surrounds the growing area, keeping them nice and protected from nasties.
They are particularly suited to smaller gardens, who do not require the vast protection of a greenhouse, but do have a small growing area that requires protection.
